Founded in 1979 by Hestia Utomo & Sarwo Utomo, KOBE started its journey as a cottage industry in Semarang. KOBE's first product was Seasoned Flour which later became the first seasoned flour in Indonesia. After starting its existence as a pioneer, various innovations continue to color every stage in the history of the company's growth. By focusing on producing the best quality products for Indonesian retail consumers, KOBE has succeeded in growing rapidly and steadily.

In 1995, the KOBE factory was moved to an industrial area in Tangerang for business development. In the same year, a special export brand was launched called Bali Kitchen, which is a complete range of products with traditional Indonesian culinary concepts. Bali Kitchen's products include various spices, seasonings, sauces, noodles, pickles and other Indonesian specialties.

In 2006, KOBE launched the Food Service division to serve industrial customers engaged in food and retail. Through this Food Service division, KOBE offers product solutions and service needs that are tailored to the needs of customers. KOBE's current industry customers include several multinational players in the food and retail industries.

Various product innovations carried out to meet the needs of Indonesian consumers continue to increase the existence of the KOBE brand in the Indonesian retail scene. With a strong concept and the best product quality, KOBE products have become market leaders in various categories. Other successful KOBE innovations include BonCabe sauce, BonChili and Selera Saus Oyster.
